Why do some automatic 2005 Toyota Celicas have the letter M next to the D on the gear shifter?

I have been looking to buy a used 2002-2005 automatic Celica and i have noticed that some have a capital M next to the D on the gear selector and some do not? Anyone know why this is?Why do some automatic 2005 Toyota Celicas have the letter M next to the D on the gear shifter? Some Celicas, I believe only the GTS's had an optional transmission that you could order the car with called an auto-manual. Also known as E-shift. The car worked the same as an automatic, however the driver could shift the gears as if they were driving a manual transmission by using buttons on the steering wheel. Sort of like Nascar. The car would select the chosen gear with the push of the shift up or shift down buttens and hold the gear you selected even with the tachometer bouncing off redline. There is no clutch as the system is completely electronic. I couldn't find too much info online about it however I know they existed (have seen them in person and online.) Hope this helps.
