How many miles can a toyota corolla last?

I am considering buying one with 70,000 miles as my first car, but is this too high? How many miles do they usually last? How many miles can a toyota corolla last?70,000 miles? It's still a baby!!! I don't know how long they last. All I know is that I sold my first Corolla (a 1974 Corolla) in 1995 with 386,000 miles on it and it still ran amazingly well with the original engine and transmission- neither had ever been rebuilt. Because of that, I have owned mainly Toyota ever since. How many miles can a toyota corolla last?
You should have included the YEAR of the Corolla you are looking at, because the year and mileage go hand in hand.

Everyone has already said that 70K miles for a Toyota Corolla is nothing in its whole lifetime. And I agree.

But what you want to consider is how it is driven in its age so far. You usually figure from 12,000 to 15,000 for normal driving range for a car PER YEAR. So with 70K miles, that's about between 5-6 years worth of driving. So if the car is 5-6 yrs old, or about 2003-5, then its doing okay or normal usage. If it's newer than 2005, then that means it's been driven more than "average", and you might be careful. If it is more than 6 yrs old, you're getting a better deal the older it gets!!

Toyotas are almost legendary in the engines they make. Toyota engines easily last into near 250,000 miles with normal average maintenance. So the engine at 70K miles is indeed just starting.

However, you have to consider the rest of the car, too. Because as you drive, not only the engine gets used, but the whole car!!

Car parts are made to wear out. Tires, brakes, shocks, alternators, batteries, headlights, all these things are worn out in a car's lifetime. But cars are also made so that they can be replaced fairly commonly. So with a car that seems to be about 6 yrs old, with the limited info you've supplied, it seems that it might be a good car for you, and still has some good time on it before certain things need replacing.

One thing to consider is that timing belt or chain needs replacing at around 100K miles. So you've got a couple years before you SHOULD replace it. The timing chain or belt is inside the engine and helps the pistons to move up and down in proper sequence. When the chain breaks, then the engine can't move the car. My beatup 1991 Corolla had 180K miles on its timing belt before breaking, so I was very lucky it broke where it didn't cause me much problem. It is an expensive fix, but it takes about 6-8 years for such a belt or chain to break. So it's not like you've got to shell out hundreds of $$ every couple years. But this is something of normal maintenance that just comes with having a car. EVERY car and truck has a timing belt and chain, it's just not Toyotas.

So based upon what you've told us, if the car is 2003-05, it is about average mileage for it. And even if it is newer with same mileage, it will be still a good buy because the other parts---shocks, alternator, etc--wont have been used as much as in an older car, even tho' it may have been driven harder.

Offhand, anybody answering would gladly buy this Corolla if you don't want it. Corollas are more faithful than Lassie, and Toyota has been smart enough to not mess with a winning design. Toyota Corollas are pretty much the most successful design made, for reliability and durability. They also hold their value pretty well. So if you get this Corolla with only 70K miles, you're doing extremely well. Hope you enjoy it.How many miles can a toyota corolla last?Toyotas are very reliable, ive had 3 toyota trucks last over 250,000 miles. However, what matters MOST is how well the previous owner maintained it..... getting the fluids changed regularly is what makes an engine last longer. Ask the owner for maintenance records, if they have none..... id find something else.
I would say it depends on how good the shape is, 70,000 im not sure if that would be the best thing to buy, My Son bought a 2000 Toyota Salara from a dealer and it only had 45,000 miles on it, and we paid 7K for it. So we got a great deal, and there are no problems with it yet KOCK ON WOOD! you might want to look alittle more, depends how much do they want for it? if its really cheep there might be problems with it...How many miles can a toyota corolla last?Pulled cars into my bay for 6 years. Plenty of Toyota's with well over 150k miles and their owners upgrading without a concern in their mind. Record breaker so far is a Tacoma with 316k. Seen plenty of Corolla's break 200k and still purr like a kitten. Just maintain it.How many miles can a toyota corolla last?
it all depends on how the previous owner, and you treated it.

if its 70,00 miles and if the owner drove it carefully and did proper maintenance, then that's pretty good for a corolla.
wow 70 that's nothing for that car if you treat the car right with all of the maintenance on time those cars can last you for everHow many miles can a toyota corolla last?
