Should the radiator fan always be turning in my 2003 Toyota Corolla?

My radiator fan wasn't turning in my car, 2003 Toyota Corolla. I was told it runs only when it needs to. Can anyone tell me more, and whether or not this information is correct? I would appreciate any information on this. Thank You!Should the radiator fan always be turning in my 2003 Toyota Corolla?Try two basic tests, first off start the engine when it's old, allow it to warm up , have the hood open watch and listen for a fan to engage, a fan should be engaging especially after the engine sits warmed up idling for a bit.Next with the engine idling warmed up turn on the A/C full and if within a few mins a fan engages then more then likely the fan system is working okay.If not then check the fan relays, fan fuses and the fan , the wiring and the temperatures sensors.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way the next time you're in slow traffic or stop and go traffic listen for the fan to engage when you're stopped at a light etc.Should the radiator fan always be turning in my 2003 Toyota Corolla?

Should the radiator fan always be turning in my 2003 Toyota Corolla?Your radiator fan only works when it is told to basiclly,

when the engine warms up, it melts a wax in the thermostat lettig coolant flow in, and when the collant reaches a certain tempature, it trips a sensor to turn the fan on.

The fan will also turn on when certain accesories are used such as the Air Conditioning, because this puts more load on the engine.

hope this helps

your corrolla on "fail safe" condition or the ff.

%26gt;aircondition having high pressure state.

%26gt;defective thermo switch,

%26gt;defective thermostat

%26gt;defective fan relays.

%26gt;defective drier/receiver switch

%26gt;grounded fan wiring

%26gt;check for unplug socket wires around the head..(thermo switch, thermo-sensor)Should the radiator fan always be turning in my 2003 Toyota Corolla?no radiator fan does not need to turn on when the heater is on only when AC is on, I think the car is cooling itself which is normal. Just to be safe, make sure you have radiator coolant.Should the radiator fan always be turning in my 2003 Toyota Corolla?
it will only run when it needs to. Sometimes when you turn the A/C on, heater, etc etc. It should not be running all the time.
