How much should it cost to repair a leaking rear main seal in a 2002 Honda Accord v6 4 door?

I went to the dealer and they told did a diagnostic for 75 dollars and claim that this is actually the problem. They then told me it would 1200 dollars to fix. Is this very overpriced? Can I get a good job done elsewhere for cheaper? Can I rely on them that this is actually the problem? Apparently I found out I had a leak while getting an oil change elsewhere, so then I went to Honda. Please help. How much should it cost to repair a leaking rear main seal in a 2002 Honda Accord v6 4 door?$75 to put the car on the rack and look is a rip. The transmissin needs to be removed to replace the seal, but depending on your location, that might be a little high. Sometimes seals dry out and turn hard, creating the leak. There is an additive that will soften the seal. Get a can of Berryman's Chemtool B-12 (Wallmart or most auto parts stores; $2.95). Add this to your oil and run the engine at a fast idle for about 30 minutes. Drain the oil and change the filter. There is a good chance your leak will be gone. How much should it cost to repair a leaking rear main seal in a 2002 Honda Accord v6 4 door?look for these seal whoever fix it has to remove the transmission that is probably why they ask for soo much;one thing is to get an estimate in paper that says they will fix your leak problem, not just that they put like they will replace that seal, you have to make a sure that is in the work order before you sign it,if they do that than you can go back if the leak still there when they finish and they havetoo give you an answer cause they fail to do what the work order says(leak fix)not we will replace or guess what is it,cause they already charge u for the diagnostic didn't they! and yes look around u might find a little diference between places.
