I've heard the Honda Rebel is a great starter bike. I'm looking for something to ride around town, commute to work (2 miles in a very small town), etc. Not for touring. What other models should I look for? I don't want to spend more than $2000. I'm willing to buy an older 1980's model, too. Want something reliable, but don't care much about power. Just a simple, reliable bike. I currently own a 49cc scooter, but want to upgrade to a motorcycle. What are some other good starter bikes besides the Honda Rebel?Kawasaki Eliminator.slightly used, low miles, can be had for around $2000. if you want a small bike to start offWhat are some other good starter bikes besides the Honda Rebel?http://www.bikepics.com/

My kid commuted 48 miles per day on a Yamaha V Star 250 on a 65 mph highway. You should be able to find one within your price range.
