Do Honda hybrids have to be driven on the highway to charge the battery?

My new Honda hybrid wouldn't start. I had it towed to Honda. Honda had to reinstall the software and told me "Vehicle needs to be driven more highway miles and more often". I try to avoid highways and dread the idea of wasting gas while I aimlessly drive on a highway to charge the battery. Several people can't believe I received this advise.Do Honda hybrids have to be driven on the highway to charge the battery?Thats definitely a myth, and it suprises me that Honda itself would have given you such redundant advice. Another common myth is that Hybrid cars need to be plugged in to charge them. You'll hear this one a lot. It is an old wives tale repeated by people who have no idea what they are talking about. Honestly, i have done the research and I have not heard of any hybrid cars that need to be charged, so dont waste your precious gas cruising the highways, as that would completely miss the point of even having a hybrid car!Do Honda hybrids have to be driven on the highway to charge the battery?I don't think thats true at all

talk to your honda dealer to confirm this
