How do I enter a security code into a 1998 Toyota Starlet Radio?

I have managed to find out that my security code is the last four digits of my VIN. The only problem is that the radios buttons only go from numbers 1-6 and my code is 0718. In my Hayne's Auto repair manual for 98 Corolla, the method is :



turn on ingnition but not radio

press "seek" left arrow until 1st digit appesr

press "seek" right arrow until 2nd digit appears

press "tune" left arrow until the 3rd digit appears

press "tune" right arrow until the 4th digit appears

press the "am/fm" knob and the time of day will appear if this method worked.

if "err" appears, the wrong code was entered.



There aren't a lot of different radios, but if the Starlet radio and the Corolla radio are too different, get out your owner's manual.
