How much would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a Honda Civic?

Im interested in a 1993 Honda Civic for $2000.00. Good shape except for a blown head gasket, is it worth fixing, or should i just keep looking? How much would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a Honda Civic?A blown head gasket is going to cost you that much to get fixed by a repair shop, give or take a few hundred $$$. I wouldn't pay anymore than $500.00 for it. If you do it yourself... $500-800 in parts and machine work. You will need too have the heads resurface and tested for cracks at a machine shop/possibly replaced if they are cracked. That might be a little on the low end though, because we get discounted parts. About a week long project for a shop. Maybe longer for you. The choice is yours, How mechanically inclined are you and do you have the time to devote to it?How much would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a Honda Civic?me and my fiancee use this stuff called "steel seal" (just google it and the website should show up) it has worked in 7 cars for us. the first one we did like 3 years ago and it still runs great. the directions are kind of complicated but its worth it. It usually takes us about 4 hours to fix a car. Id recommend it to anyone :)

It wont work it the head is cracked or the block is cracked however - you would need to get the head resurfaced in that case. the bottles run about $80 for two.

is the car for sale at all? i need one :)How much would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a Honda Civic?my dad is a mechanic and when i blew a head gasket on my turck.
