At least for the Toyota Prius, the warranty paperwork says that the US Prius is covered throughout the US and Canada, so there have been a few owners from Canada that have purchased their Prius in the US (and done the necessary import paperwork/fees and DRL modifications) to save money and to get options that they wanted.
